Scotland Government Scholarship

Funded by the Scottish Government, this scholarship is open to international students from any country in the world who have a good academic record and are currently studying a relevant course at a Scottish higher education institution.

Scotland’s Higher Education Funding Council for Scotland (HEFCS) has announced its funding scheme for the next round of the Scotland Government Scholarship, starting in August 2019. This is the first time that applicants must use the online application system to apply for their place at Scottish universities.

This is a full-time, fixed-term scholarship for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension. The scholarship is available to students from any country in the world who have a good academic record and are currently studying a relevant course at a Scottish higher education institution.

Immediately following the announcement of the scholarship, the University of Edinburgh has been selected to host the first cohort of the scholarship.

Certainly, the University of Edinburgh is an ideal host for this programme as it has a very strong international presence, with over 2,000 international students studying at the University of Edinburgh.

The University of Edinburgh will be accepting applications for the first cohort of the scholarship from September 2022. The University will be accepting applications from students who are currently studying at a Scottish higher education institution, and have a good academic record.

Scotland Government Scholarship Financial Coverage

  • The Scottish Government Scholarship will award 50 Scholarships each worth £8000 Pound Sterling, towards Tuition fees. If You Convert £8000 into Your Country Currency See if this is enough amount.
  • Saltire Scholars will also have the opportunity to take part in a program of activities over and above their studies, including dialogue with the academic and business community in Scotland.
  • A candidate can also avail online degree program on scholarship.

Eligible Countries

Scholarships are available to citizens of the following countries: Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Japan, Pakistan and the USA.

Scotland Government Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

If you are interested in applying for a Saltire Scholarship. There are some Rules & Requirements to be eligible for the Saltire Government Scholarship.

  • Have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university on an eligible course.
  • Be a citizen of Canada, India, Japan, USA, Pakistan or China (Hong Kong citizens are also eligible as it is a Special Administrative Region of China).
  • Be able to demonstrate that they can meet the costs of living in Scotland and the remaining tuition fees.
  • Not have previously studied for a full undergraduate degree in Scotland.
  • Not have previously received a Saltire Scholarship.
  • Meet the language requirements of the course.

Scotland Government Scholarship Deadline

The Last Date to Apply for the Scotland Government Scholarships 2022-2023 is 31st May 2022.
